Public Information: Picnic reservations are available for groups fewer than 100 on Sunday’s only. Reservations and payments must be made in person. Call (310) 838-3838 for information. Reservations can be made up to three months in advance but at least 14 days prior to the event.

Facility Features: Auditorium, barbecue pits, basketball courts (lighted/ outdoor), children’s play area, picnic tables, large fields.

General Information: Palms Recreation Center is located at the intersection of Overland Avenue and the 10 West Freeway.  Our special features include: Palms Park Children’s Center, Auditorium, Picnic Area, Playground, outdoor basketball courts (one full court and one half court), and the Palms Rancho-Park Library. We have a picnic area (available by reservation on Sundays and on all other days on a first-come, first-serve basis). We allow moon bounces (selected from a list provided by the park office) with a generator with your picnic permit for an additional fee. Please contact our office for details and availability. Our staff, instructors, and volunteers offer a variety of programs and activities for the community. Parent and Me classes, art classes, day camp programs, sports classes/programs, and dance and fitness activities are all available.

Preschool Information: The Palms Park Children’s Center is located in our beautiful state-of-the-art facility which is both comfortable and inviting. The children are divided into two groups, an Early Learners group for ages 3-4 and a Pre-K Learners group for ages 4-5 years. The curriculum is designed with kindergarten readiness in mind. Children will participate in crafts, music, cooking, games and social interaction. Pre-K Learners will also learn their numbers, colors, name recognition and days of the week. The program meets Monday through Thursday from 9:00-12:00 noon. Call (310)202-4531 for more information.

Sports Information: We offer youth sports leagues for children 4-8 years of age, providing your child meets the age requirements. (Please see brochure for more specific information.) Pee Wee and Rookie Soccer is offered in the fall (registration in June), Hoopsters Basketball is offered in the winter (registration in October), and T-Ball and 5-Pitch is offered in the spring (registration in February).

Day Camp Information: Palms Recreation Center offers day camp programs for children ages 3-5 years (summer camp only) and for children entering grades K-8th. Camps are offered in the summer, winter, and spring based on the LAUSD school holiday breaks.

The Park Advisory Board: The Palms Park Advisory Board meets one evening a month. Please contact Laura Campfield, Facility Director at (310) 838-3838 if you are interested in becoming a member. Friends of West L.A. is a non-profit 501c(3) organization that is able to offer wonderful sponsorship opportunities for businesses and great fundraising events to help enhance Palms Recreation Center.  Please contact us to find out more information about the organization.

Class Registration Information: Our current class information is available online (see above). Please call (310)838-3838 for more information. Most classes run 7-10 weeks, unless otherwise stated. Students must meet class age requirements by the date of enrollment. Staff reserves the right to require proof of age at any time. Only Visa and MasterCard credit cards can be used to register online. Walk-In registration begins the Wednesday prior to the start of the session. Payment in full by credit card, check, or money order must be made in person at the time of Walk-In Registration. Cash is not accepted.  Checks are to be made payable to “L.A. City Department of Recreation and Parks”. Class fees will NOT be prorated until after the fourth week of classes. See below for our refund policy

Please consult with your physician before enrolling in any physically demanding class. Persons with disabilities are welcome to participate in our programs. Reasonable accommodations will be made with prior arrangements. Please notify the instructor prior to the start of class if you or your child has special needs.

ACTIVITY REFUND POLICY:

  • A 15% fee will be assessed by the recreation center for any patron granted a refund, change, or transfer per class or sports league registration.
  • No full refunds will be issued unless a class or sports league is cancelled by the center.
  • Credit or make-ups will not be given for classes missed by patrons
  • There will be no prorating before the 4th week of classes, thereafter 20% will be prorated from the original class fee.
  • We reserve the right to cancel/combine classes if the minimum enrollment is not met.
